SETUP.md

From a fresh clone to a running app, service by service. Your agent ticks each box when it finishes the step.

Two passes

  1. Minimal setup, about 10 minutes. A database and one secret. The site, sign-up, the signed-in app, the REST API and the MCP server all work. Emails go to a dev mailbox instead of an inbox.
  2. Services. Add the keys of each service you want. Each one is independent: without its keys, the feature is off and nothing breaks.

Boxes your agent ticks

Each step is a checkbox. The file asks agents to tick a box when they finish its step, and to write a line under it when they had to do something different. The next person, or the next agent, sees what’s done.

- [x] Install, and create the local environment file
- [x] Start the database, create the tables, start the app
- [ ] Google and GitHub sign-in

The services it covers

  • Email, with Resend or Email SDK, and the dev mailbox until then.
  • Google and GitHub sign-in.
  • File uploads, API docs, analytics, the consent banner and payments, for the modules the project has.
  • The daily cleanup cron.
  • Deploying on Vercel, or on any Node.js host.

A module you left out has no section: the CLI removes it from SETUP.md too.

Run one command. The CLI asks the rest, and your agent takes it from there.

pnpm create turbinekit my-app
See the prompt

Paste it into an agent that can run commands, such as Claude Code, Codex or Cursor.

Create a new TurbineKit project with me.

TurbineKit (https://turbinekit.dev) is an open-source Turborepo and Next.js starter. Its CLI, create-turbinekit, needs Node.js 24 and pnpm 10 (run `corepack enable` once).

1. Run `pnpm dlx create-turbinekit --help` to see its options.
2. Ask me its questions one at a time, with their defaults: the folder, the product name, one sentence about the product, the company or legal name, the contact email, the languages and the modules. Skip what I have already told you.
3. The CLI only asks questions in an interactive terminal, so run it with my answers as options and `--yes`. Show me the command before you run it.
4. In the new folder, read AGENTS.md. Then do "1. Minimal setup" in SETUP.md, and tick each box you finish.
5. Tell me the URL of the running app, and which services SETUP.md lists next.

No sign-up, no API keys. Needs Node.js 24 and pnpm 10.
